Delia Day…my Great-Grandmother…Cancer….I was 4

Ruth Napier… my Great Aunt…Breast cancer…I was 7

Bro. Ken…my preacher…Car wreck on dump hill when a hot asphalt truck hit him…I was 12

Diana…my Uncles Keith’s girlfriend…she was crushed by a motorcycle when she ran it off the road…I was 14

Paul Denham…my good friend…Suicide, with his x-box cord in his basement on Christmas Eve…His father preferred he’d be dead then gay…So he was…I was 17

Dominic Bonano…Star basketball player, who was my friend and had my mom as an English teacher…he wrapped his car around a telephone pole…I was 17

Granny Morgan…My Great-Grandmother 101 years old…Stroke…I was 22

So many deaths, so many memories that I carry in my basket… I am 23

My basket is filling up these days… Eric and Aunt May all within the same month.

Everybody carries deaths around in their basket some more than others, mine might not be as full as yours, but certainly not lighter.

Heavier and heavier as time marches on…
