The Lady in the Moon

Is the moon ever lonely?

I doubt she is with so many admirers.

I’m paralyzed in this vicious cycle.

My heart is in my lap,

Cradled by a slowly fading left handed tan line.

I’m past being cracked and broken, but shattered.

I wish I could be like the lady in the moon.

Does she feel inadequate?

I doubt she does, she never fades.

She shines joyfully, endlessly, and constantly,

Always there to fill my empty chest with companionship.

I wish I could forget my name

Forget your name

Just forget the memories we made.

Does the moon see everything?

I wish I could trade her life for mine.

I long to feel full of light,

Full of hope,

Full of love,

Simply…full

I’m so empty… soulless

Is she searching for me?

Come find me

Follow the trail of sorrow

The path of regret

The road of sacrifice

The boulevard of constant dismay.

I’d trade what’s left of me for the light in you.

I wish I was moon

Tonight,

Tomorrow,

And forever!
