FORGETFULNESS

he rolled up his memory like an old rag,
packed it up and out of window he tossed it,
mounted his fiery horse and to a spot where he had no idea he rode
unhooked his mind ,his being
from old follies rediculous tumbles foibles and social faux pas
in a corner ,he sat to imbibe happiness and to drink content to the lees,
some other little things of his Past sneaked shyly to his New locality,
but they were cowering ,shrinking and couldn't stare in his face or shake his hand.
he is free now to celebrate his first birthday in his own way,
in the morning everything he saw was new devoid of meaning ,of Past
he shook violently some tree branches to force out an old song or a hidden sigh, but he was denied anything ,he felt reassured.
now his unabridged dictionary is whittled down to
a few pages ,only a few words ,which have lost their taste-stale..vapid ,they are.
