Mr Benn was a childrens programme when I was young. He used to set out for work every day but would be distracted by a costume shop. He would dress up as someone different every day and have loads of adventures. I always thought he was kind of sad and lonely. This is my tribute to my namesake.

What will I be today?
Maybe a pirate on a ship
I could sail the seven seas
Wouldn’t that be a trip?

Maybe I’ll be a spaceman
And fly among the stars
Just rising ever higher
To the Moon, or even Mars

What about a cowboy
Riding on the plain
Just me, the horse and no one else
No one to see my pain

I may even be a knight
Fighting dragons for my fame
Only me to face the beast
And none to share my shame

What will I be today?
Anyone but me.
