Will we still see the colours
When our earth goes to sleep
When the rivers stop flowing
When the salmon don’t leap?
Will we still smell the fragrance
When mother nature’s lungs stop
When the forests are gone
And desolation’s our crop?
Will we still taste the morning?
When the sun doesn’t shine
When smog is our window
Our lives coated in grime?
Will we still hear the birdsong?
When their feathers are gone
When their nests all lie broken
And they’re flying alone?
Will we still feel our heartbeat?
As we try to keep warm
Only memories for blankets
As regrets fuel the storm?
We must sense there’s still time
We can turn these things round
If we only try harder
Then some hope can be found
If we just have the courage
The belief and the heart
And we all pull together
Then at least that’s a start
