What is that out yonder?
Floating in the turbulent seas.
Is it not a piece of wood?
A gnarled, knotted, rotting piece of wood.
A piece of wood,
Slowly drifting on its errant course.
Floating, falling, swaying to and fro,
Upon the ever angry sea.
Where is it going? I ask.
It answers by slowly sailing steadily away.
Away to a place of love, peace and harmony.
Or perhaps! To a place of turmoil, war and hatred.
Was it a piece of wood?
Gnarled, knotted and rotting away.
Or was it a broken soul, slowly drifting,
Upon the stormy seas of life's discontent.
A piece of wood,
Pushed, pulled and twisted, by the currents of society.
Until it reaches into the air,
Grasping for the hope and deliverance it so desperately needs.
The piece of wood,
Saturated by the evils of society,
Sinks slowly out of sight.

Never to be tormented and tortured again.
