This is a poem about a friend of mine I had when I was about 8 years old. She was blind and lived a few doors down from me, we used to hang out alot. Then one day her dad (who was divorced from her mum)kidnapped her, took her to another state and murdered her along with her three other siblings.

Many seasons have come and gone,
Since I have seen your face, your smile.
Many seasons have come and gone,
Since I have heard your voice, your laugh.

Loretta.

Sometimes I wonder.
Wonder what you would be like now,
A woman, so full of life, so strong.
A lover, a mother, a friend.

Loretta.

Though you couldn’t see the sky so blue,
Or the trees so green.
Though the world around you was cloaked in darkness,
Your light shone so true.

Loretta.

In the night he did come,
To take you away.
Away from your home,
Where you were meant to be safe and free.

Loretta.

The one who should have cared,
Lit the fire that stole you away.
The one who helped create you,
Was the one who destroyed you.

Loretta.

A life stolen,
Innocence taken,
All but memories are left,
That and your name.

Loretta.
