A poem for those who have served. Here in Australia we've just had ANZAC Day, a veterans day. Our ability to express ourselves on this site despite what we are or believe is a direct result of people sacrificing their lives so that we won't have to. So to those brave men and women I say Thanks and Lest We Forget.

As they marched in ragged lines
Those soldiers of old, we remember
Their blood soaks foreign lands
So that our did not
Lest we forget!!!
Rows of stark white crosses
Stand at attention
Like the bleached bones that lie beneath
Are all that remains of past youth
Lest we forget!!!
The pain fades, eventually
The memories do not
The dreams of the dead fill the night
Friends lost, never forgotten
Lest we forget!!!
For their eternal sacrifice
We give our thanks
For their service
We are grateful
Lest we forget!!!
Dedicated to those who have served and to those that continue to serve.
