When do dolphins cry?
Is it when they see us slaughtering each other?
Or is it when they hear that a child dies needlessly every three seconds?
Is it when a young girl is raped?
Or is it when a young boy hangs himself?

When do dolphins cry?
Is it when a family loses their father to a heart attack?
Or is it when they lose their mother to cancer?
Is it when politicians lie, sending people out to die?
Or is it when you and I fail to care?

I don’t know when dolphins cry.
But I do know God does.
Every time we try and fail, he does.
Every time one of us dies, he does.
Every time we cause pain, he does.
Every time we feel pain, he does.

I don’t know when dolphins cry for us.
Honestly, I don’t even think they try.
