This is a children's story that I had written for a Diversity in Education class a few years ago while I was in college. The inspiration was from my son's one-eyed pet mouse, named Marshmallow. This is a heart-warming story that children of all ages can relate to. Marshmallow is excited to start his first day of school in the BIG CITY and is excited to make new friends. Marshmallow quickly realizes through the bullying of his peers that he is different than other mice. It takes a brave rat, named Ramon to help Marshmallow see that it doesn't matter what we look like on the outside, but what is in our heart that matters. Being different is what makes us special!
