say goodbye

The past can take away so much from a person. Some times you need to say goodbye to the past before you can see who you have become.

If only you could see

A minute through my eyes

All that hurt and pain

Beneath such treasure lies

Today is life’s decisions

Tomorrow will never come

The past is true reality

To demons you succumb

A past can steal a future

Realisations you’ve tried to hide

Wasted years in empty search

To heal your inner child

Set in stone you cannot change

However hard you try

Time has come to say goodbye

One last and final cry

That love you thought was missing

Had only been replaced

Open up and start to see

You’ve beat all that you’ve faced

Never think your lacking

As a person, you are whole

Caring warm and precious

A loving heart and soul

If growing had been another way

Your gain would be at cost

Your gift for understanding

Gone,  for ever lost

Most hopeful. Not sure I agree. Well written and expressed sentiments though. Good use of rhyming and rhythm. Presents well to the readers eye.

Happy trails,

Ed Bradley.
