I don't own the picture.

The whispering wind whooshes through my lonely leaves. I shiver, longing for the shelter of my fellow trees that always used to keep me warm. I remember them all- the bright, spring green leaves of the happy, young trees; the wheezy, crackly stretching of the wise, old trees. Some of them disappeared unnoticed; of course, that was just a few, and it's not uncommon. Then, more and more were ripped from their homes by their roots. The stronger trees fell to the hacking of axes. On and on it went, until I was the last tree left in the forest. Now, my only company is the wind- no chirping birds, playful squirrels, or even a solitary raindrop- just the whooshing, whispering wind.
