Hey Calcutta,
heard they call you city of joy!!!
you jump in joy with every KKR score,
yet its still dada, whom you dearly adore.
Mohun Bagan is what defines your football,
but it makes sense only against East Bengal.
the argument between red and green will persist with time,
and not giving that extra phuchka will remain a genuine crime.
the phuchka of Gariahat and momo of Esplanade,
still more delicious than the Pizza Hut’s lemonade.
you love those adda in every city rock,
where topics of argument never run out of stock.
eat shingara at college square, while the professors wait,
every day at work you promise, next day you won’t be late.
life isn’t fair, still you enjoy it to the full,
Calcutta, truly, you rule.

I kind of like it, I can & do relate to some of it.
Sat, March 30th, 2013 2:23amMay I suggest you supply a dictionary of Indian words so all can understand where you are coming from?
Why not write a poem about Indian sweet shops? Or sweets?
Like Jalebi. Hot on the way to school?
Gulab jamun, etc'
Why don't you also write the other things about Calcutta.
Blessings Thanks for the memories & the good laugh.
Till next time,
Blessings.
