Written 09/05/2019 for my graduation mass, read 21/05/2019 at the end of year awards ceremony.

After six years in this place

I’m still not ready to go,

Because how can I hope to find

Friends like I’ve made here;

This building is drenched in memories so deep

It’s a surprise we’re not drowning.

Yet I long for the future

With every fibre of my being.

Change is such a cruel friend;

It tears you to pieces,

Chews you up and spits you out

Before you can see it was helping all along.

I can’t imagine a better bunch

To spend my adolescence with.

We have lost and gained people in our ranks

Since first year but no one is ever truly forgotten.

So this is for everybody I didn’t speak to

As much as I should have,

And for everyone to whom

Forever will never be long enough,

Thank you for being part of it.

Thank you for the ups and downs,

Thank you for the laughs and

Thank you for the serious,

But ultimately, thank you for being there.
