Bright and bold at mental peak

the lover of knowledge knows what to seek

books and poems and essays galore

she reads them all and yearns for more

she hides away in her reading room

and reads tragic tales of fate and doom

she learns of history right off the shelf

and of what causes it to repeat itself

the lover of knowledge is an oddity indeed

she gorges herself on the things she reads

the lover of knowledge is bizarre to say the least

the only creature that doesn't eat to enjoy a feast

her eyes fill with ravenous rage

as she excitedly turns every page

when she is done, she tucks her books in tight

and tells each one of them goodnight

their words are a song that lull her to sleep

for her surreal imagination they keep

the lover of knowledge lives on through lore

and will continue to do so forever more.
