Innocence Lost

I didn't feel anything today,
I couldn't laugh or scream or even cry,
I just sat in my room and waited,
For the silence to scream for me.
I tried again to re-trace my steps,
This time not to take the wrong turn,
To bask in the safety of the light I had once fled from,
I had run too far,
And I knew it.
I watched, as the little boy I had come to know so well,
Ran on ahead,
out of sight.

Soul Searching

"You should open up more,
release pent up emotion".
Thats what my shrink says anyway,
What does he know?
He sits in his plush leather swivel chair,
Staring at me with corridoor eyes.
Perusing, accusing glances over his notes,
One of a hundred problem teens on his long long list.
Familiar tedious drill,
"And how are you this week?",
"Well...
I didn't feel anything today".
