Personally, I dread fancy lunches, especially when they're required. But sometimes, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

She slips her square earrings
Into place
Wondering, questioning
What today will bring

They dangle and shine
Sure to bring confidence
Compliments and smiles-
Only she does not care

Her outward appearance
Is like a speck of dust
In the desert
Called her life

She brushes it off-
Detaching herself
From this plastic
And material world

She was born
To be a woman of destiny.
Her cute brown shoes
Only one little detail

She unclasps the necklace,
Praying for strength.
Sliding on the cool silver,
She lets her soul be refreshed

Her purse the last step,
She is out the door,
Mother in tow,
A fancy lunch their destination.
