Waking up to a chorus of distant screams with no clue as to where she is an unfortunate victim lays helpless as her surroundings become clearer creating more questions than answers.

Heart pounding

Eyes darting

Where am I?

Distant screaming

Lights flickering

How did I get here?

A loud crackle

I turn

What’s going on?

Red streaks line cold tile

I shutter

“Hello my sweet,” says a darkened figure

A balled up newspaper falls to the floor

Another girl missing

Eyes glaring

A chilling smirk

“Shall we begin?”

Thank you for your comment. When I wrote this one it was actually the first poem I had written probably since high school. So I honestly spooked myself with this one. I don't even know what inspired me to write "Shall We Begin?" other than writing it not too long after "Lucky Number Thirteen". I guess I was still in the Thriller mindset. By the way, I love your profile pic. I used to love watching Naruto. Gaara and Kabuto were always my favorite characters. I love the Sand and Sound Villages. And I read some of your stuff and love the emotion behind your poems. You've definitely got my likes. :)

In all honesty, I'm not as obsessed with Naruto as I was when I got into it. Granted I still love the show and, yes I do have some of the headbands, but let's just day Fullmetal Alchemist and Ouran High School Host Club kinda pulled me from my Naruto phase. Now I go back to Naruto for the music and a lot of the older episodes. Nothing beats the first few season for me, it's almost like nostalgic warm and fuzzies in a way. As for my reaction to my own poem, I guess it was just the fact that a lot of my older poems were light-hearted or horrible attempts at writing love songs despite the fact that I never had a boyfriend or was really crushing over someone. So I guess the change in tone caught me by surprise, especially the fact that it turned out so well compared to most of my older poems. Then again I also have a very vivid imagination. And a vivid imagination + a love for horror movies= mind goes to dark places. But, it does result in some awesome stories that can create tension without giving many details about the characters or the situation at hand. Actually, the more I re-read this poem the more I start to think of where she may actually be and what's going on outside of the room she's in.
