Shoulder to Cry On, Friend to Rely On

There's a mountain-sized hurt in my heart
It breaks my bones and tears my soul apart
I want to let it go and sing the blues for once
When I look around, I find no one but silence
In this journey of defiance, I'm all alone
Will you be my shoulder to cry on?
Will you be my friend to rely on?

Life trickles through my fingers like silky sand
I wish to live and squeeze it tightly in my hand
Hot and harsh wind cuts through my soft skin
I am losing this bitter battle but sweetly I'll win
But in this battle, I'm on my own
Will you be my shoulder to cry on?
Will you be my friend to rely on?

Though I look delicate with an angelic face
I disguise my flames with a devilish grace
Words heal my wounds and I hold my ground
My ship is wrecked but I won't drown
Hold my hand till the storm is gone
Will you be my shoulder to cry on?
Will you be my friend to rely on?

I see my destination but the journey goes on
Before I die I'll sing my sorrows like a swan
I walked on thorns to write my story with roses
In the end it was blood dripping from my bruises
Smile at me and kill my frown
Will you be my shoulder to cry on?
Will you be my friend to rely on?

The spark inside me shines through my eyes
I lost my wings but my heart floats in the skies
I am left incomplete like a fine piece of art
If you don't understand, just feel me in your heart
But if my imperfections make me look woebegone
Will you be my shoulder to cry on?
Will you be my friend to rely on?

The long starless night loomes ahead of me
Those walking by my side are trying to flee
The night is cold yet my heart smolders
I thought yours were the friendliest shoulders
Sing me a lullaby till it's dawn
Will you be my shoulder to cry on?
Will you be my friend to rely on?

Nice work. My favorite line of your poem is "I lost my wings but my heart floats in the skies." This line speaks of hope and optimism to me.

I like the first four lines of the last stanza. Verliy, in reality, this is what I have seen. Those walking by your side, pretend to be with you. Good lines...

Nice similies used while talking about the usual human psyche, a longing for sharing ones burden but only Lord knows what goes on in our heart
