I wrote this around the end of 2004. The poem is about a relationship I had, and the last line sums up how it ended.

I walk into your house
And as I look around
hardwood floors
so many closed doors
I sit upon your couch
And as I look around
pictures of your boys
life's wonderous joys
I eat at your table
And as I look around
items of your past
dear memories to last
I stand in your kitchen
And as I look around
"Peanut" at my feet
purring softly, so sweet
I wait at your stairway
And as I turn around
you are standing behind me
my heart starts to pound
I sit on your bed
And as I look around
warm, cozy covers
a bed made for lovers
I lay down beside you
And as I look around
you are all I see
becoming part of me
I step into your heart
And as I look around
... locked doors
no keys to be found
