You know that feeling you get

When the Holiday season rolls around?

The feeling that fills your insides with joy and happiness?

Think of that sensation.

Now you know how I feel everytime I see you.

Some may call that a hyperbole or exaggeration;

I call it truthfully sharing my feelings.

They say that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

But I'm still in disbelief

That you've allowed me to behold your beauty for so long.

External, yes but more importantly, internal.

Thankful, grateful, appreciative.

All of these I am but none of them properly sum up my feelings.

I realize that in no way do I deserve you.

But then again, no one could possibly deserve you.

So I pray you continue to put up with me and my faults

Which contrast so greatly with your radiant perfection.

And I beg your forgiveness.

When I am tough with you, when I hurt your feelings,

I am treating you like you're just an extension of me,

Which is true in many ways.

But I should be more sensitive because I don't ever want you to get the idea

That you're not special to me or that I don't love you.

We have grown very closely

And I have loved every minute of it.

So, please,

Accept this poem as my gratitude and apology.

But most of all as my promise.

I promise to make you feel loved, appreciated, and adored.

The only fitting metaphor I can find is that you mean the universe to me.

Just as the universe is always expanding, so are my feelings for you.

So thank you for being you and thank you for being

My Abigail.
