Book Review:

Abhorsen

“Abhorsen” is the last book in the Old Kingdom series. The main character of this book continues to be Lirael and the other characters include her magical dog, Mogget, Sameth, Sabriel and Touchstone. Although the last two has purpose are minimal in this book. There are many different reasons why the book is named according to many who has criticized Garth Nix's book. Some suggest it was a reference to Shakespeare's executioner in “Measure for Measure”.

They finally have to make ends meet with the greatest of the powers that has been working things from the beginning, Orannis, the destroyer. The destroyer is the ninth Shiner and the most evil magical being or force.

I won't give any more details to the plot as it will ruin it for everyone and I would much rather have you read the book than my review to find out what happens. It is a truly beautiful work with so much to offer to the reader, expanding our thoughts and imaginations. I will tell you that Lirael loses something, in trying to banish Orannis. A little teaser for you.

That said, read the book! No really, plot is quite well done, characterization is something to think about and the language is really clear, descriptive and quite a narration Nix has.

Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I have.
