My mom was quite an alcoholic a while back, and left our family completely torn to shreds. She finally told me she needed help, and went off to a rehab center. I wrote this, knowing that change WAS going to happen, and that things were changing for the better :D

Here, on my face, lies a smile.
A smile that wasn't with me before.
With a feeling I can go the extra mile,
Where I can let my dreams take flight, and soar.
I no longer need to be the “wallflower”,
And I know I can achieve so much more.
The life I thought I could never live,
Is now knocking at my door.

Now that the world is my oyster,
I feel, at last, like I can dream.
A dream of tomorrow, free from the years
Where my life was an endless pit of fear,
I’m glad there are people to comfort me now,
In my ups, my downs, my smiles, my frowns,
I hope this new world will never go,
But if it does, there’s always my dream,
My wonderful dream of tomorrow.
