A more traditional rhyming poem, written in the middle of the night.

Believe me, Stephanie, that when you say
You cannot last another day
My heart, that once would tear in two,
Now holds together, knowing you
Have strength – believe me, this is true

For though I cannot read your mind
Or see the thoughts I hope to find
I know the things of which you’re made
(Though scarce are readily displayed)
Will shine while others are decayed

All who look at you with care
Uncover what is really there
If only you could find a view
Without unwanted gloomy hue
I’m sure that you would see it too

So take today as one more chance
To fight against this sullen trance
To stake a claim for what you’ve earned
Through errors made and lessons learned
Believe this corner will be turned
