“Damn cat, would you stop getting in my way?!” Ryo hissed angrily, resulting in a glare bestowed upon him by Akimitsu, whose eyes seemed to behold flames of anger. Without warning, Akimitsu pounced at him, looking a lot like a wild cheetah. “I’m sorry Kaori-san, maybe in time you’ll forgive me, but, this man must die!” He shouted whilst his canine teeth began to enlarge and sharpen and his eyes became blood red and crazed with anger. I couldn’t believe it. I was actually frightened of Akimitsu!
Ryo spat a mixture of blood and spit onto the ground and tenderly rubbed his right arm, which was now accompanied by a large, purple bruise and was covered with a fresh coat of blood. He slowly got up, practicing extreme caution when he moved his red and purple arm. “Looks like you’ve got some fight in you after all!” He commented, sounding almost joyful. A low growl emitted from his throat and he too began to change, though his transformation was much different from Akimitsu’s-at least you could still tell who he was! Dull, white horns tore through the flesh resting on his forehead and he became enveloped in black, cotton-like fur. His eyes shifted to a deeper yellow and his teeth, much like Akimitsu’s, began to enlarge. Ryo was beginning to look a bit like a Minotaur.
“Are you ready Kitty cat ‘cause now I’m ready to get serious!” Ryo warned as he ran to Akimitsu, giving him no time to respond. Akimitsu nimbly dodged his attack and attempted to plant a punch on Ryo’s already-injured jaw. His wrist was caught and he was thrown to the ground. Acting quickly, he caught himself and swung his left leg upward, effectively kicking Ryo in his chest. Then Ryo seemed to go insane with anger. “That freaking hurt you bastard!” His outburst was accompanied by his own hysterical laughter as he rushed madly in Akimitsu’s direction, looking completely willing to kill him. This time his attack was too quick to dodge. His large horns met their destination-ripping through Akimitsu’s shirt and creating a deep wound.
Akimitsu fell to his knees clutching his wound-almost as if he was trying to keep the blood from spilling out of him. I couldn’t bear to watch-I had to stop it-I had to. I picked the now-bloody knife from the ground and charged at the scene. I thrust it deep into Ryo’s back, becoming drenched with warm, dark red liquid in the process. He coughed, blood spilling from his mouth. He muttered something incoherent and then shut his eyes. He was gone.
I fell to my knees and sobbed hysterically. Ryo was dead and I was the person who killed him. I am a terrible person. In the corner of my eye, I could see Akimitsu struggling to make his way over to me, still clutching his wound. He gently hugged me, dyeing my pink and white striped torso red. “I killed him…” I stated with trembling lips. “It was my fault Kaori-san, I shouldn’t have been so reckless and-“
“Stop it, just stop it!!” My statement caused an era of silence. “Why do you always take the blame for things I screw up?” I clenched my fists. “I’m so selfish-I’m a murderer and yet…and yet you still try to comfort me. Why? Is it because I remind you of Hisae or do you really care!?” I asked, sobbing heavier still. Akimitsu stared at me incredulously. His expression fell and his ears drooped. “Do you really think the only reason I helped you all of those times was because you may be somehow related to Hisae-sama? Kaori-san…Since the first time I saw you I knew that you were, well, special, to say the least. When I saw you the rest of the world disappeared-Do you really think I only keep you around because there’s a possibility that you could turn out like Hisae-sama?”
I nestled deep into his chest for a moment in an attempt to quit my tears. I was a terrible person. Once I only had a few drops remaining, I helped Akimitsu to his feet, as he was noticeably dizzy from blood loss. We walked to a small hospital and he was sent to the emergency room while I eagerly waited for him to come out. “Ma’am, you came in with Akimitsu-san, didn’t you?” A nurse asked, looking at a paper-filled clip board. “Yes Ma’am.” I answered simply. The nurse’s face became more serious with a hint of remorse. “What is it!?” I asked urgently “Is he dead?!” After all that had just happened, I expected nothing but the worse.
