This is a poem I wrote after my ex and I broke up last year. Some of the wording is a bit weak, but I figured I'd post it, nonetheless.

I waited like a dog for you,

Did whatever you said to do:

I wagged my tail. I sat up straight.

I never went beyond the gate.

Then you brought home that other pooch.


You even let him in bed, too.

I shook it off. My turn to chew!

In the morning I’ll leave the crate.

No more waiting like a dog for you.


I admit, I’ll howl at the moon

At night, but bark at the sky blue

In time, perhaps with a new mate.

I waited like a dog for you.
