“A Strange day in July”
My fraternal twin brother, Harris had always cared and was there for me. I’m his twin sister. He was just five minutes older than me. We love to challenge each other using our own unique skills. He was very versatile and sensible as we were growing up. He had the best smile that I could think of. I love my brother even though he teased me a lot and made me cry. He’s the best brother that I could ever have in my entire life. It was tested and proven in a strange day in July.
We were eight years old, as far as I could remember. It was warm, clear and delightful day of summer. Our whole family went to our grandparent’s old house. The house was in the deep woods and it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere. It must have been more than a hundred years old and the paint was peeling off. We went inside the house and went upstairs. Harris and I looked out the window and saw a very fascinating translucent lake reflecting the shine of the sun. We were bewildered by the site.
After dinner, Harris and I wandered away from the house even though they told us that we shouldn’t ever leave without them knowing especially if we’re going near the lake. We still did our very silent escape route. We silently and lightly made our footsteps through out the door, luckily than no one mentioned us. We ran like a prisoners brake out from the jail and gave each other a high five.
Harris and I were having fun enjoying, the precious scenery at the lake. The air was very satisfying with a tint smell of nature. The geese were floating free to the water. It was so relaxing that thing seemed so perfect. “I bet I can beat you!” I said breaking the silence. I grinned at him. “Beat me in what?” he asked inquisitively. “Throwing the stones at the water and getting skips as many as you can. I’m pretty sure I can do better than you even though I’m a girl.” I bragged obstinately. I grabbed one stone and threw it as best and as far as I could. The stone just flew in the air and dropped giving a splash of failure. I bowed my head and felt ashamed.
“Ha! Watch this.” he threw the fine stone and got two good skips. “Boys rule, Girls are always a fool!” He laughed at me.  Dancing and mocking that he was better than I am, which was true. I didn’t resist because he always was better than me. Instead, I just watched his cheerful extraordinary laugh that still echoes in my head whenever I think back of it.
When he stopped bragging, he showed me how to do it properly. He demonstrated like a professional, threw the stone and strangely it came back. He tried a second time with more eager and it came back again. We glanced at each other. Our jaws dropped, mouths opened wide in shock, giving the look of amusement and outrage. “Did you see that?! How can you do that?” I asked surprisingly. “I didn’t do anything. I swear!” he replied in unbelievable tone. This time, he threw with all his might, but the third stone came skipping back.
Suddenly, the translucent calm lake went bubbling furiously at the center. The air went so strong that could blow us away. Branches were falling of from the trees. Geese were flying away from the lake. A great frightening light from the deep water flashed right before our eyes made us wonder if we’re just dreaming .But it was so real that made us draw back a few steps from where we were standing.
An enormous, ugly green half-human half-water creature rose above us. It was about twenty to thirty feet tall. Its face was so repulsive to the sight that I didn’t want to picture it, showing us an expression of fierce. Its teeth were so huge, crooked and yellowish. Its body was covered by scales and there were had gills on his bare neck. It had a very awful, awful rotten fish smell that could make you die from suffocation.
“Who interrupted me from the century of my silence? You shall pay spending your life eternally with Me.” he said with a very creepy low voice that gave us chills. We felt so small just looking up above the monster. His glowing eyes looking at us He pointed his huge indescribable hand. “You, I know that you’re the one who woke me up. You’ll come with me whether you like it or not.”
I wanted to run and scream for help. But I couldn’t move my body, and my voice was choked hidden inside of me. We were stuck in that horrible moment. I grabbed Harris’ arm and he was also shivering scared to death. The monster’s hand moved fast as lightning. My brother looked at me and smiled. It was just splits of seconds and he said. “I love you sister; just want to let you know”. He pushed me so hard. It was so fast that I couldn’t react. “No, Harris, wait!” I screamed at the top of my lungs knowing that what he said was so bittersweet. I fell on the ground while picturing my brother’s eyes focused at me. There was a great impact on my head and everything went pitch black.
