I recently discovered a British artist called Dr Syntax. Listening to his work, I could really hear, through his exceptional lyrics that he was making more of a statement than a song. Inspired by this, I thought I'd do my own version of his song 'Hire Me'. Its my own call centre twist. Obviously some of it is exaggerated for the sake of the writing. Just a little disclaimer there, in case anyone I work with sees this.

Call centre politics...I ain't ranted in a while,

So I thought I might as well just get my fix...

------

All the managers get to where they are from cheatin' and connivin',

I play by the all rules and all I get's a royal hidin',

SELL MORE...YOU MUST...SELL MORE...

Tryin' my best every day apparantly aint the best way,

Think I woulda learned since I'm in a call centre every day!

I ring my mum for a little frikkin' support,

and all I get is 'son, you didn't turn out how I thought'.

PUT MORE EFFORT IN...YOU GOTTA...PUT MORE EFFORT IN

She's telling me I can go and get a job from my own volition,

When in actual fact here, it's just a graveyard of ambition.

Every day I grit my teeth and excercise humility,

Being screamed at by customers who've forgotten about civility.

WHY YOU RINGIN' ME?...TO SELL MORE...WHY YOU RINGING ME?...TO SELL MORE

Things, just, dont seem right,

Work my arse off, still an uphill fight,

Start of the month and things are still tight,

Things, just, dont seem right.

-----

'SO, BANKSY...WE CAN SEE HERE YOU'RE NOT QUITE REACHING COMPANY EXPECTATIONS, WHY IS THAT?'

ummmmmmmmmm, well,

Maybe 'cos I'll come in on a monday morning hungover,

Tryin' to convince myself I ain't getting any older.

Maybe 'cos evening time I'll spark a jay and smoke the night away,

Attempt to forget my stresses in those rings of blue and grey,

Or perhaps last weekend I'd have gone all the damn way,

And drunk too much vodka to end my weird day.

You're thinking now that maybe you should...

FIRE ME....

I've had it up to here with all the veiled sneers, just...

FIRE ME...

Go ooon, do me a favour and just...

FIRE ME...

'GEEEET OUT OF MY OFFICE!'

...I get home feeling slightly liberated,

Finally left behind all the things I really hated.

But now I still gotta find myself financial aid,

Gotta start thinkin' 'bout how how I'm next gunna get paid.

Call cantre politics...I ain't ranted in a while,

So I thought I may as well just get my fix.

Call centre politics...Call centre politics.
