-Prologue-

“When Reapers Came”

This whole disaster started a long time ago, long before my day. In ancient times, there were the Old Gods, worshiped and empowered by the people of this world. Then, more recently, mere thousands of years ago, there came a rift in the universe when supernatural beings came into existence. The humans of the time had no idea, but it was apparent in the night sky that an enormous black void had appeared, which became referred to as Mu. The size of a large galaxy, it seemed to have completely erased everything that was in its place. No planets, stars, or any other heavenly body was visible in the total blackness. It was empty, pure nothingness.

The cause of today’s troubles began with the appearance of this strange and mysterious void. The use of dark magic became the norm amid the world’s wars, and it seemed to grow in power with the presence of the void. Black mages, wielding arcane staffs and chanting long forgotten spells created beasts like Vampires, Werewolves, Angels, Demons, Mermaids, and Shapeshifters among others to do war with each other and gain in power. These creatures were originally used as weapons in war but soon enough formed tribes and societies for themselves. The problem with these beings was when they die, they didn’t go to heaven or hell, they went to Mu. From there a soulful transformation would happen.

Forged like a piece of hot steel, shaped into beings known as Reapers. Reapers would collect human souls, essentially for food. They consumed these souls to replenish their power. When a Reaper had consumed enough human souls, they had a power that rivaled the Gods. With an influx of supernatural souls, the Reapers soon outnumbered and attacked the Old Gods. With triumphant domination they defeated them. Though these Old Gods were Immortal, they were not invulnerable. The Reapers locked away the Old Gods in a Reaper-made magical cage. They placed this cage in the deepest, darkest, depths of hell where they remained imprisoned.

The Reapers formed a Hierarchy with a council of five sitting at the head. These five became referred to as The Overlords. Each Reaper was ranked according to their level of power. This hierarchy became known as ‘The Reaper Requiem.' All Reapers from this day forward were to fall under these ranks and perform the duties of a Reaper. Reapers were givers and takers of life. When a new child was born, a Reaper was there. When a life ended, a Reaper was there. Forever the harbingers and precursors of life and death.

It was 2020, and a lot had changed, but Reapers were still in control of life and death. As they harvested souls endlessly, something suspicious began to happen. The Overlords were gaining a tremendous amount of power. From where could this power be coming, I stumbled on to the fact that they were harvesting an unusual amount of human souls. Why was still unknown. I planned to find out what was going on, and I led a rebellion to do so.

This rebellion became known as “A Reaper’s War”.
