Summer love remembered.
Sometimes as I lie awake,
I wonder where you are,
Who’s holding your hand,
Who’s your guiding star.
That summer when we were young,
High on love and carefree,
The mountains we were going to climb,
The world against you and me.
The whirlwind of our passion,
Dreams we had were so intense,
Crazy, wild, silly, just plain mad,
But to us it all made perfect sense.
But Then the cracks opened up,
Different desires pulled us apart,
The laughter, the fun, the wanting,
From fulfilled to a broken heart.
But after all this time has passed,
I still wonder what could have been,
The spontaneity of an idealistic youth,
Ended our young lovers dream.
