It was a dark cloudy day and city encountered dusk sooner than ever. The city was known by the name of Halloween town as people loved evil spirit and ghost. That day it was raining heavily and the strong wind almost shook the trees standing tall. The rain put the people in shock as it never rained so heavily ever before. The lamp lights lit up very early as dark clouds covered the town. The street hawkers also lit their candles and then again went back to work. One hawker who sell toys went back to home early as he had no umbrella or shade above him.I was returning to Halloween town after 17 years.I lived here when I was very small.I was raised and brought up in this town and I had many good memories attached with it.When I lived here a baby sitter used to take care of me.Her name was Margery Young and she was from Britain and had a pure British accent. As my dad expired when I was very young my mother took responsibility of his business so she never got time for me.So Mrs Margery was the only person with whom I interacted the most.So I was returning back to Halloween town for a purpose. The purpose was to find Mrs Margery. As I was coming close to the town I became more excited as I wanted to meet lady Margery who was so influential in my life and who raised me with good moral values.I never hesitate to say that I was more close to her than my own mother. So finally after a journey of almost two days I arrived in the city. The city definitely was not the same as it was before.People looked more gloomy than cheerful and surely city lost that spark which it used to have before. So when I arrived I was exhausted so I entered the restaurant to have a cup of coffee. It was half past six and rain continued to shower but it was just a drizzle. As I was enjoying my coffee I could hear people whisper about the strange day they experienced. They talked how heavily it rained and believed that someone has cursed the city which is why these terrible things are happening and whispered in low "worse is yet to come".Finally the drizzle also stopped and the cold wind were howling near my ear.The climate became so good that it lit up the spark in the people of the city who were looking so pale moment ago.I was so deeply lost in trying to hear what people were talking that I didn't realise that I finished my coffee but when I did then I decided to move from that place to seek for a hotel. As I was walking down the street I noticed one astrologer sitting idle and his eyes desperately searched for customers.I never liked any astrologer as I always perceived them as the one who cheat people and strive for money. As I walked passed him I heard a stern voice saying "You will fail for the purpose you came back in the city" and as soon as I heard that voice I knew it was meant for me.It was astrologer who said that and when I turned towards him he was already looking at me as if he was waiting for me for many years. He had a strong personality and seemed to manipulate anyone. So I asked him how do you know I came here for a purpose and he said 'Is that the only thing you want to know'.His reply proved me that he was no ordinary astrologer.I wanted to make sure he was no fluke so I decided to ask him some questions.I saw a board which he put before him that said '1 penny per question' so I reached in my pocket and dug out a penny from it and asked him ' What is my name ' and he replied without any doubt appearing on his face ' John Crosby is your name'.I was shocked and didn't know what to say.I gave him a penny for that correct reply but I was still not fully convinced that he was no fluke so I decided to ask him another question. This time I dug out 3 pennies and gave them to him.I said to him you can keep them with you if answer my next question correctly. He didn't say he agreed but his expression said it all.So I asked him with a dauntless look on my face 'What is my middle name'.Even my close friends and relatives could never answer that so how could he.I stood there and waited for his reply. He paused for a while and gave back my pennies and replied 'John Charles Crosby' and no sooner had he replied than he disappeared.I was astonished how he answered correctly. Surely very less people knew that and he proved me neither he was a fluke nor strived for money.Although it was so weird,I decided to forget it and so I did and looked for a place to spend a night.I took a cab and instructed the driver where to go.I was heading towards 'Blue Paradise' which was the name of a hotel. It was the best hotel in town. The driver hardly was interested to talk and so we didn't talk until we reached Blue Paradise and I paid the fare and he went away.So when I looked at the hotel it was beautiful and deserved to be called the best hotel of the town. Then I entered the hotel and looked for a manager and no sooner did I look for him than I found him and approached towards him and asked if I could book a room for a night. But manager replied with disappointment 'sorry sir we don't have any room for you now'.So I asked him if he could manage a room for me but he shook his head with disappointment and said he could do nothing. But he told me that I would find a small cottage if I walk 1 km straight from there. So I wasted no time as it was already quarter to nine and hurried to get to that cottage. It took me 15 minutes to that cottage and the cottage was hardly visible as it was so dark.I pushed the gate and entered the cottage and saw a broken window. It was a very old cottage and nobody had lived there for many years. So I opened the door and went in and couldn't see anything properly so I lit a candle.Somehow I managed to prepare a bed and tried hard to sleep but couldn't sleep as I felt so scared. As I tried to sleep I felt someone is near me and watching me and most of the time felt someone is whispering in my ear.But finally I fell asleep as I was so tired.Next morning when I woke up I felt so great and relaxed. It was a beautiful day with bright sunshine and birds were singing everywhere not like other day when it rained so heavily. Then I got ready and left the cottage in search for Lady Margery. As I was walking I noticed small children dressed as ghost as they were preparing for Halloween day.I could see that same joy and excitement on their faces that I too had for Halloween when I was small.Seeing them I recalled my childhood memories when I too used to celebrate Halloween with Lady Margery.I remember we used to follow the custom of calling at houses at Halloween for trick or treat and nobody ever dared not to treat us because they knew if they dare then we would play prank upon them.We both Lady Margery and I were famous for our pranks in our locality. When you're a child, Halloween is all about the candy. As an adult, Halloween is all about the pranks. But in our case I say it was reverse.I was heading towards a place called 'Buckland End' where lady Margery lived but I was not sure whether she still lived there. As I continued to walk I came across a shore which was well known to me as I used to come here along with lady Margery when I was very young.I remember we used to come here in the evening when the shore was empty and sit here watch the waves coming close and enjoy the breath of wind and lie down and count the infinite stars displayed in the clear dark sky.I wish I could experience those memories again. So it was getting dark I decided to move on.I could see birds flapping their wings to return to their nests as if they were indicating me that I was running out of time .Buckland End was in between town and countryside so I saw many horse driven cabs.I stopped one and headed towards Buckland End.The cab driver was really polite and wished me good evening. He was old and wore a hat, maybe because he wanted to hide his bald head but for whatever purpose he wore it,the hat really suited him.He held a cigar between his lips which he puffed after every 3 minutes. He was a nice old man and shared with me how he loves living in the countryside and criticized people of city.He even offered a cigar to me but I refused to take it because I was never fond of a cigar but I thanked him for the offer. He asked me what someone from a town doing in the countryside and I replied I was heading towards Buckland End to meet someone very special.Later it became all dark and nothing was visible other than the old man's lighted cigar but after a while we saw few street lights ahead on our way which indicated we were in a Buckland End.The old man stopped his carriage when we finally reached and I paid him extra for his good company and then I bid him farewell.I saw a pub and decided to have a drink.I entered the pub and mostly saw old people and hardly saw anyone of my age.But place was very quiet and peaceful.I was always very fond of beer so I ordered one.I paid 9 pounds for one mug of beer but it was worth paying it as I never had such a good beer ever.It was so good that I started to lick every drop of beer which was dropping down the lips. But I realized I was the only one who was enjoying the drink as other people there looked so sad as if something bad had happened. So I asked a person sitting beside me what's wrong with the people and he said 'someone very special in Buckland passed away this morning and after saying that he cried with pain.So I left him alone as I was never good at consoling others and resumed drinking my beer.As soon as I finished my beer I decided to leave that pub.So without any further delay I resumed my search for Mrs Margery so I looked for the house where she used to live and finally after some hard labour I managed to find that house.I saw that same pale yellow house and hardly found anything new.Well I was hardly expecting any change as lady Margery was a women who disliked changes and kept things old and simple.I saw a group of birds sitting on the edge of balcony chirping in a peculiar manner as if they were mourning for someone's loss. The place was so quiet and noiseless and I hardly saw anyone.I entered the gate and looked at the name plate that said Margery Young which was almost covered with dust and was barely visible.I rang the door bell and no sooner had I rang the bell than my heart started to beat faster due to excitement. I became nervous too and doubted whether she will recognize me.The door opened and I didn't see lady Margery rather saw a young women who looked very pale and sad.She wanted to hide her sorrows but failed to do so.She was one gorgeous women that every man would desire to have but her sadness surpassed her beauty.I was afraid to ask her anything but I gathered my courage and asked her about Mrs Margery and after listening to me she fell on her knees and cried heavily. The pain she was trying to hide from the start ,it all came out. After gaining her breath she stood up and told me in a stammering manner that Mrs Margery passed away this morning.I was numb for a while after hearing that and did not want to believe it.It was so shocking for me and I felt a great pain in my heart .I wanted to hide the pain but failed to do so just like that women and a drop of tear rolled down my cheek. For five minutes we didn't talk and mourned for her death. There was pin drop silence around us and everything paused for a moment. Then with little strength I asked her how it all happened and how she knew Mrs Margery and she replied Mrs Margery was her mother and she was suffering from cancer and died.Instantly I prayed that her soul may rest in peace.I tried hard to stop crying but couldn't resist it.I decided to immediately visit the grave of Mrs Margery so I plucked some fresh flowers from the garden and headed towards the grave. As soon as I reached the grave I fell on my knees before the grave and kissed it and placed the flowers above the grave and prayed for her.As I prayed I continued to cry and felt guilty because I realised that when I was small there was no one but lady Margery who took care of me and filled my emptiness but I wasn't around her during her hardship.I noticed a bench and sat on it and was deeply lost in my thoughts as the wind came and ruffled the leaves of the trees.
