Summary

Just another song which I wrote earlier on in the year about how a writer sperates themselves from the real world. Which is irronic when you consider a writer to be observant but this is more an honest description more than anything.

I am

(Music and lyrics by Nicola Brooks, copy right2007)

I am in a room

I am confined to dark spaces
Should it be any different - and if so
Why isn’t it any easier?
Sometimes when I am alone
I feel like I can change the world
But if I am to change anything
Shouldn’t it be myself?
I know you worry about me…
But apart from late nights - I am fine
Though maybe a little distant sometimes
I am free
(putting myself in someone else’s shoes)
I am happy
That’s what I do
Because I am me, only me, just me, not you
There’s a convenience to loneliness
I only have myself to blame
Should I be so self absorbed - and if so
Is it not easier that way?
And you say…
Sometimes when your write
I feel like your blocking me out
And if you are to hide from anyone
Shouldn’t it be yourself?
please don'tyou worry about me…
Becauseapart from late nights - I am fine
Though maybe a little distant sometimes
I am free
(putting myself in someone else’s shoes)
I am happy
That’s what I do
Because I am me, only me, just me, not you
I am me, I am
I can't let go
I am me
Yes I am me
I am me
not you
