On wings of silk the moth alights;

Unfettered flight, the eagle's lot;

The hummingbird from leaf to flow'r,

In every hour she flies for naught;

The bat wings forth on leathern arms,

He charms the night with echoed cries;

The clouds sail through all heaven's skies,

To rise on high 'neath angel's eyes;

Yet I know flight more glorious,

Less spurious, and day or night --

I rise aloft, unfettered still,

On wings unwilled, when words take flight.
