This poem means something specific to me, but can be interpreted in many ways. I'm quite proud of it and I hope you enjoy!

It was a world I always wanted to be a part of.

Yet a world that is now forbidden to me.

I caught the occasional flowery glimpse,

In those days.

And for a second I could stare beauty straight in the face.

But glimpses are far from a whole.

Glimpses are pieces to cry over,

Late at night as you try to string them together,

Desperate for something warm and real.

No, I wanted to be there.

I wanted to marvel in the colors, warm and rich.

I wanted to bask in the glow of that world.

But I think I was in a parallel universe.

Destined to float by, tantalizingly close.

Never to touch.

But oh, I got close once.

The fabric peeled back and for a minute I felt hope,

And if I stretched out I could almost...touch.

But it was not to be.

And now, I’m not allowed even those glimpses.

Slivers to get me through the day.

So since I am locked out here in the pouring rain,

With only the echo of a possibility to warm my shaking hands,

My dear, I must let you go.
