Breathe in.

Breathe out.

It was a minute after the doctor had left the room, informing him he would be discharged any time soon.

Under normal circumstances, he'd feel relieved. He'd feel relieved to finally be able to sleep in his own bed, end the day in his own house.

But she hadn't been there. Since he ended up in the hospital, she didn't come to visit. She didn't come to hold his hand and whisper everything would be alright. She didn't come to lay next to him and cuddle him into sleep.

Because his dreams played with his mind. His dreams were way to good to be believed. But somehow, his heart secretly hoped to see her face, feel her touch, smell her scent. But all he could hold on to is the memory.

The terror in her eyes when she saw him being shot. A bullet in the chest, knees going weak, collapsing to the floor. She ran over to him, demanding him to stay awake, not to fall unconsious. But it hurt to much.

Her pain. Her regret. Her fear.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

The machine next to him was beeping instantly, catching every heartbeat. He shut his eyes, trying to get rid of the thought of him being at home, without feeling like it was a home. He tried to forget he'd feel lonely, as if he was the only person left on this earth.

He didn't remember how long he had kept his eyes firmly shut. But when he felt a hand on his fore arm, he aburptly opened them again. Only to gaze in her big, frightened, blue eyes. A hand in front of her mouth, she didn't utter a word.

I'm sorry,” He repeatedly moaned. “I'm sorry I'm letting you go through this. You shouldn't be here. It's just...” A sigh escaped his lips. "You should be here." Now he had her here, by the looks of it, he didn't feel content at all. She was visibly hurt seeing him like this. “I'm sorry.”

Before he realized it, she rushed over to him, and locked his mouth by pressing her hand on his lips. “Don't speak.” She demanded, just as she demanded him not to pass out. This time, he listened.

She slowly withdrew her hand from his mouth, noticing his chest rising up faster than ever before. His heart beating in his chest. Was it fear? Or was it excitement?

Neither did matter. She gently placed her hand on his chest and leaned in, to press a soft, but loving kiss on his lips, that told him he wasn't alone in this. He liked to believe it. For it was his lips she kissed, but his soul. It wasn't her chest she touched, but his heart.

He managed to reach up to her face, and brush the hair out of her face. A smile formed around his lips.

For if she'd be with him, she would make him a home.

She'd make earth his heaven.

For she was his angel.
