Breathe, Just Breathe
My hands were sweating. I could believe I was doing this. Shane had been my best friend since we were 11. Now here we are 12 years later, he's getting married and I still haven't told him.
I haven't told him that I've been in love with him since the moment I met him. I looked up to the altar; there he was blonde hair and blue eyes and all in a black tuxedo. I still can't believe I didn't get invited to the wedding. Then, the music started. I looked back at the girl in the big white dress. Kristen had blonde hair and brown eyes. Ugh, Shane told me five years ago that he hated girls with blonde hair.
I was wearing and pink pearl necklace, bracelet, and earrings, and pink heels. I had on a short black dress. Yeah, I know you shouldn't wear black to weddings, but to me this wedding is a funeral. And Shane loved me in black.
My stomach was in knots. I was so scared. What if I stood up and no words came out or if he told me to leave or he said he didn't feel the same way? No, no don't think like that, Brianna, think he will say I love you back and then happily ever after. Okay, breathe just breathe.
Kristen is at the front now and the dude is talking. Breathe, keep breathing.
"Speak now or forever hold your peace." was said. I slowly stood up. Everyone in the church gasped.
"I have something to say, Shane we have been friends since we were 11 now 12 years later you're getting married and you didn't invite me. First off, why? Next, I've known you 12 years and she's known you five months. When we first met, you had on your faded blue Levi's and a dark blue T shirt. You blushedso much talking to me. We have grown up together and yet we still didn't grow apart. And right now I want to say this before it's too late. You're my best friend but you are more than that. I have been in love with you since the moment I met you. I'm sorry for barging in like this and interrupting, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life thinking what if. I'm saying this so you can know. You can marry Kristen now if you want. But I want you to know that I love you. Sorry." I said and walked out of the church.
I could feel everyone staring at me as I walked out the door. The church was next to a little lake. I walked down to the lake and picked up a flat rock. I skipped the rock on the water. "Beautiful day for a wedding." a familiar voice said behind me.
"Why aren't you saying your "I do's' right now?" I asked Shane.
"I couldn't," Shane said.
"Okay, one question, okay, actually, I have like a billion questions, but let's start with one. Why didn't you invite me?" I asked.
"I couldn't marry a girl I like, if the girl I loved was sitting their watching." He whispered.
"You mean that?" I asked still not facing him.
He wrapped his arms around me and whispered into my ear "yes." I twirled around and kissed him.
"Good, because you promised me you would marry me." I told him.
"What, When?" Shane asked.
"In the 9th grade, I got dumped by Joe and told you I would end up all alone and unmarried, you told me you would never let that happen and I made you promise that you would marry me so I wouldn't have to be alone." I told Shane.
"Now I remember that. Well I might just make good on that promise." Shane said smiling.
"Oh, you better." I said and then kiss him. Shane picks me up, bridal style. He caries me to the limo.
Once inside the limo, he asked "Brianna do you want to go t oHawaii with me?" he holds up the two plane tickets.
"Yes, yes I would." I tell him. Okay, I have no idea what he said in that church to Kristen, but I don't care now he's mine. All mine. I, just, can't keep from smiling.
So, Kristen, I Win.
