This is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite of all my poems. I think it's my best 'work' (that is a loose term) but I don't want to tell you what to take from it. I'd love to know how you interpreted this if you were kind enough to read it though, whether you find it hopeful or entirely hopeless or anything else for that matter ...

Puzzle Pieces

I recall the night we first held hands
and the way they fit together,
like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle,
or like snow in winter weather.
That night my heart skipped fifty beats
and if what they say is true,
that we're all pieces in a puzzle,
I hope mine is next to you.
We'd fit together perfectly,
never need to be released.
If life's a giant jigsaw,
could I be your missing piece?
