The Truth (Enough Is Enough)
I'm nearly a man but
enough is enough,
a boy's not a man and
I'm not that tough.
You can string me along
like a beautiful song,
with my face in the dirt
I'll pretend it won't hurt,
but enough is enough,
you might have my heart,
but if this is what love is
I'd rather tear it apart.
Of course, I know it's all my fault,
I only had you by default,
The best of the worst,
I fell head first
in love with you,
too soon, I know,
naively thought you'd
Yet you left one year ago tonight,
you're eyes had never shined so bright,
sorrily you said goodbye,
but not one tear would cross your eye,
not because you did not care
those many days ago,
you knew that it would hurt me,
now this thing I need to know,
If there's nothing left that I can do
to prise your heart back off of you,
if you won't let me in your heart,
you need to say, I'm not that smart.
Could you ever feel the same?
Please, I need to know.
If you don't, I'll be okay,
I'll pack my bags and go.
I'll probably cry for three straight years,
but by now I don't care.
This ignorance is far from bliss,
this broken heart I'll wear
upon my sleeve for all to see,
a souvenir of what used to be,
They'll see the truth was finally spoken,
but it couldn't break the heart that was already broken.
