Butterflies Fly away

Delicate

As the soft pattern

Of the wings

Land upon a newly bloomed flower

Painful

When they start up

as my eyes find you

Even halfway across the room

Forever

Will the beautiful patterns

Last year after year

Summer after summer they return

Nervous

I get when I think

That it won’t last

Because sometimes butterflies fly away
