I mold you under my hands
First through hard pounding
Then pinching you out to the right shape
Hoping it’ll be just right
Then blending two of you together
Watching something form
Gentle shaping comes next
Slowly making out who you are
Two lines placed out to help guide me
A small cone placed on one
Then blending in and shaping to make it look nice
Then adding and molding, adding and molding
The forehead looks mighty nice
You look a little awkward now
But just wait you’ll look great
Add three small balls to the ends of the cone
Blend it in, Blend it in
Carve out two small nostrils
So you can breathe in the scents of the world
Now the hardest part
So light do I place
Two small coils and blend them in
Over a small ball that will let you truly see
The world for what it is
Repeat the process
Make little bags under those eyes
So you’re a little tired
But you know you can make it through these long hours
A little more slapped on to the head
To make you more profound
This is taking a while isn’t it
One coil thick, one a little thin
Place thin one underneath the nose
Blend in the larger one underneath
I mess up, made a mistake
Don’t you want to give up
Its so hard
I just wanna kiss these lips to sleep but we aren’t done yet
Fill in the cheeks give you a little volume
Full and soft like a baby’s tush
Here comes the hardest part
The hair, your personality what says and makes you
After that’s done you look really fine
Beautiful, lovely, words can’t describe my pride in you
For making it this long
Now to hollow you out
And make you light and spirited
It takes a while
But we’ve already been through a lot
So let us keep going
Here is the last part
You have to go alone from here
Through a harsh, hot, journey
You may not make it
But I believe in you
I loved parenting you
I watched you grow
But you weren’t the only one who grew
I did too
You taught me patience, perseverance, and determination.
Thank you
I’ll see you on the other side
My child
