The Blues

I wrote this poem not too long ago. I was at home one night and had all these thoughts and ideas swirling around my head and couldn't make heads or tails of them. I couldn't write!! I got frustrated and wrote about not being able to write.

Let me show you how I lose
the ballpoint pen blues.....

All the while I sit here twirling a pen between my fingers
disjointed ideas swirl and linger
Ideas about this and that
I lay the pen flat
Pick it up again
OOH!! I got an idea!! So i start scribblin'
Busy with the pen
but then...Damn! Gone. There goes my train of thought
My mind caught
in a web of confusion
Ideas in my brain need to be translated by my pen.
Between them there is distance.
No fusion.
Yet I continue to fight
While I suffer this plight
Ideas slow to come. The ability not there. Just not.
Evidence visible on my page cuz each time I start
I leave a dot
I suppose I should stop
But I gotta lose
the ballpoint pen blues
Just let it come to me, right?
But maybe if I work at it a little I could get better
You never know.....I just might
Nah!! Fuck that!!!
I will get better. Just watch. You'll see
Pictures are painted in these lines authored by me
I wanna see what's in those hidden corners of my mind
Benevolent. Malevolent. Eloquent.
Each line of my thoughts defined.
But you will have your own view.
Let me know. I might agree with you.
Well for now I'm done. I'm puttin down my pen.
But I know me. I will pick it up again...
That's what I do when i wanna lose
the ballpoint pen blues.

I love that. We all face the block. You have a nice not-quite-stream-of-consciousness style here. I hope to read more from you. Welcome to Booksie.
