Short Romances presents

Jeralyn

by Ohsojohn

It was February 13 when she, Jeralyn Romero, became my legal girlfriend. She was my dreamgirl, my everything since 3rd grade. When I first met her, I became too nervous and shy that I peed in my pants and started wailing. Although it was so embarassing, it was the 2nd best day of my life. That day, I knew she was going to be my wife and I was 7 years old. From then on, she was always with me, played with me and she became my best pal until today.

In the first day of high school, I held Jeralyn's hand because she was too nervous. She was shaking and her hand was cold. It was the first time I held her hand. It felt wonderful. It felt like forever. Then came, February 13, sophomore year, I finally had the guts to ask her to be my girl. So, when she said yes, I rejoiced like there's no tomorrow. It finally happened. The day that I've been waiting for my whole life. Then in prom, she said we'd go to college forever because she dreamed of going to college with the person she'd marry.

3 years later, we went to college and there happened our first time. It was in my dorm. She was so sweet and so beautiful and I tried to be gentle but she was so hot I couldn't resist it. The next day after that, my roommate caught us in bed, cuddling. He was my main man, Tod. He was hilarious and we would always do everything together. Play baseball, watch football games, and talk about girls. But, after college he died from a car accident. Stupid bastard. He was wasted while he was driving to our graduation.

At the end of college, I proposed to Jeralyn. She was so happy and excited. I hugged her as tight as I could. She was crying for joy. I kissed her as passionately as I can. I carried her and spun her around. It was the best day of my life. Not just because we did it again that day, but because it was the day that our baby girl was made. I was happy to find out she was pregnant. Then a few months later, we got married. Her tummy was very fragile so we can't do the running-for-joy-outside-the-church-like-in-a-movie wedding scene.

But, today, the day that I regret breathing. I found out that Jeralyn is due sometime tonight or tomorrow. So, we took her to the hospital and the doctor told me something about the umbilical cord choking the baby. He said it's either Jeralyn survives and the baby dies or the baby survives but Jeralyn dies. I regret living that day. I wish I never found out. I love Jeralyn so much but I want my baby. I wish both of them can be with me forever. "I want you for the rest of my life," Jeralyn said while I was sitting beside her inside the observation room. I love her so much and I wouldn't stand to live a day without her.

"I love you so much. I would die if I lose you," I said then kissed her after.

She then screamed in pain. I ran out and called the doctor. The doctor took her to a room to perform the final stage of pregnancy. I sat on the bench outside the room. I wiped  the tears that rolled down my cheeks. I was worried about her and the baby.

Then 30 minutes passed, I saw the doctor come out of the room. He stood beside me and told me that my baby survived. I brokedown. I was crying. I loved Jeralyn so much but like what my dad told me, "Love will be love. It will remain forever no matter what." The doctor then introduced me to my daughter. She was so beautiful and so lovely. It was a miracle. It was like looking at Jeralyn. It was Jeralyn. She's my Jeralyn.
