If only my courage didn't always fail me, I would know if you feel the same. But it really is too personal a gesture for such a common place time, with your friends watching on.

A bar of hair falls across your eyes,
Dark against your skin,
You seem to not see it,
But it pulls my attention,
It catches my eye,
I long to reach across to you,
Gently move it away,
But that is too close,
Too personal a gesture,
Your friends are watching,
They might wonder,
You might wonder,
My courage fails me,
The moment passes unbidden.

I flirt with you gently,
You seem to flirt back,
Joking, laughing, teasing,
My crush goes unnoticed,
I do not make a move,
Shy that you do not feel the same,
If we were but alone,
My couage would not fail me,
I would reach over quietly,
Softly move the offending hair,
Leave the ball in your court,
For you to make the next move,
And maybe just maybe,
Next time I will get the chance,
To show you the depth of my crush.
