Lipstick on my Water Bottle

There is lipstick on my water bottle
And a stain across my shirt,
As I sit alone in solitude
Waiting to be hurt.

There is lipstick on my water bottle
A raspberry satin smudge,
It dries in ageing sunlight
While I slowly feed a grudge.

There is lipstick on my water bottle
Because I’m waiting for your call,
I applied it three emotions ago
But in time it seemed to fall.

There is lipstick on my water bottle
And the stain seeps from my hair,
I washed it in a rush for you
But you were never there.

There is lipstick on my water bottle
Yet a fire inside me that will fight
So I wipe the colour stain from my lips,
Pick up my pen,
 And write.
