This poem is for my best friend. We are going through such a bad stage in our friendship and hopefully we will make it through, no matter who says we can't. Love you, C.G. xx.

For C.G.

'Our little situation'

That's what we call it.

We can neither see nor speak to each other,

A rule laid down by my oppressive father.

Why does it always have to be me that's so different?

Different is good, but not this sort of different;

No other person lives their life like this.

The reason he gave was a racial one.

Why does race matter when you love someone?

I lay in bed most nights in tears;

If I can't have you then I don't need a friend

We've made so many plans, which I hope to implement,

Because 8 years is too long a time to forget.

I can't wait until the next 2 years are over.

'Friends 'till we die', you say,

I say, 'best friends forever'.
