Saturday, what a dark day
The cold never bite this viciously before
My mirth lay slain
Trashed and scattered in the rain
For the message was plain.

The streets, such a dark path
The pavement never felt this hard before
As I walked on forward
I noticed my spirits were lowered
And the pain never seemed so real

The sky, such a dark display
The stars never seemed so sad before
As I looked hopefully to them for control
They struck down my pleas with a horrid glee
I knew I was alone

The sound, such a dark silence
The emptiness of the scene never scared me so much before
What hope I had fled
As on forbidden ground I tread
And the pain never seemed so real

The smell, such a dark aroma
The false hope it ignited never tore me apart before
My composure began to fail
My spirit began to wail
And I knew I was alone

The thoughts, such dark thoughts
The things they wanted me to do I never heard before
My wits were at their ends
But what I wanted was just around the bend
And the pain never seemed so real

The house, such a dark place
The memories never seemed so hostile before
Everything came together at that moment and more
The rage inside me, it tore
But I knew never could hurt the one I adore
It was hopeless, it was futile, it was more
Than any one man should have to store
in his heart, made to love and not to abhor
in his heart, the one that was now in pieces on the floor
in his heart, made to care and make others feel at home
In his heart, the one that knew it was now alone.
