Do you remember
When you held my hand
Through scary movies
And walking past the lion cages
And at night
To save me from the monsters
Who was there to hold your hand
Through the smoke and flames
To save you from the monsters?
Do you remember
When you told me it was okay
On the first day of kindergarten
And when Fishy died
And when I couldn’t sleep
Because of the nightmares
Who was there to tell you it was okay
Through the blood and pain
To save you from the nightmares?
Do you remember
When you took me into your arms
Because it was cold and my nose was pink
And when the bigger kids picked on me
And when I heard something scary
To protect me from the evil
Who was there to take you into their arms
Through the death and despair
To save you from the evil?

Not bad at all. I don't read poems usually. Not much the poet type myself. But why? That filial prayer adressed to a deceased parent is quite touching.
