To bridge the gaping holes in my soul divided

Desperately pretending, the fragments are united

How I wish this fractured mirror reflection would lie to me

Twisting, contorting, to be the pretty picture you want me to be

If only I could turn back time and wipe my soiled slate clean

Burying, hiding, so I can masquerade as pure and pristine

Perfect

I ache to be whole for you, to repel my damaging affliction

Deceitfully, wrongly full of self-righteous conviction

To bridge the gaping holes in my soul divided

Acting and pretending, the fragments are united

Perfect

Across miles, I stretch and distend

I break, then again I reach and I bend

Desperately, I lie and deceive

Fabrications nobody will believe

Perfect

I’m so weary, somewhere beneath this veneer

A flesh and blood woman is still here

I don’t know if this deception is for you anymore

I’ve forgotten if it’s you or me this ploy is for

I’m growing so tired of this maddening ruse

I have nothing else, no other excuse to use

I will never, ever be

Perfect
