Besides working at Carowind's & finishing FunkyTeech's homework for Spring Break, I'm leisurely scrolling through videos on WSHH (www.worldstarhiphop.com). Notoriously known as a hip-hop/shock site or "the CNN of the ghetto," it's home to ignorant "ratchet" fights, embarrassing public nudity, & your source for what's happening in the world of hip-hop. But as I was going through the website's archive, a certain video pulled my pupils: "Was It Child Abuse? Father Beats Daughter For Posting Twerking Video On Facebook Reaction" by The Hodge Twins. Once I glared at the headlines, I recalled my sister presenting me the video the night before. And may I say...That was "some old-fashioned" ass-whopping I witnessed before that cracked HTC phone screen. Now, before DSS dives into the rescue, you can't lie, the girls in the video appeared a lil too young to be twerking, period. So in a way, they got what they deserved. But in a way, they didn't see what was coming to them, A CABLE WIRE! Now, as a child myself, I recieved beatings for my irresponsible actions (that includes belts, brooms, shoes, wire hangers, tree branches, etc). But there's a certain extend to where it's discipline for a child's bad action to a Kunta Kinte whipping by "master." Of course what they did was wrong & not only was it wrong, it was humiliating & embarrassing to the family. But beatings, whopping, etc ruin the relationship between parents & children (honorary doctorate in destroyed relationships with dads). Not to mention, physical punishment only puts them in their place...For now (Started from the mirror, now she here=KOD). Plus, the only reason kids will obey you is through fear of having a "handmade" tattoo on their buttocks by the help of the belt. Just saying to the parents, talk about what they did with them, set limits, ground them, put your foot down in a positive way, take their possessions, not their pride (I know those girls feel guilty that not only did their twerk video went viral, but their punishment went public as well).
