Wind knocking at my door

Trying to get in once more

I hold it back with all my might

The sound it makes brings me fright

I’m not afraid of rushing air

Or what might be lurking out there

The fear I feel comes from within

Like some dark foreboding sin

I grow weak against its force

I feel myself surrender to its course

I can’t resist or fight anymore

I throw wide open the door

I run out into the night

The world is dark & free of sight

I run faster, faster still

It’s as if I have no will

I turn my face to the west again

I won’t go back to where I’ve been

My eyes are closed, arms open wide

I let the peace come inside

Blow away my cares & tears

Take me from my doubts & fears

Make me light, happy & free

Push myself away from me

Sail me away like a bird

High above where nothings heard

Pick me up so I can fly

Where I won’t need to ask “Why?”

Now the air is slowing down

Soon my feet will be back on the ground

I’ll make my way back to the door

It’s not enough I long for more

I feel myself come back to me

It happens every time you see

Soon I’ll feel the guilt & shame

Knowing I’m the one to blame

Please wind blow into my soul

Make me feel good & whole

Take the bags I pack around

Come in quick without a sound ©2013
